REA March Madness Food and Fun Day

The Rutherford Education Association’s (REA) March Madness Food & Fun Day is back! The event is being held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 and will benefit the Rutherford Food Pantry. The inclement weather date is April 2nd. The event will be held at the new Pierrepont School gym, located at 70 E. Pierrepont Avenue, Rutherford, and will be staffed by members of the REA. The price of admission is 2 canned food items for the Rutherford Food Pantry per adult, and 1 item per child. For information, please contact Maria De Trizio at 201-438-7675, Ext. 4603 or mdetrizio@rutherfordschools.org.

This event is a Pride in Public Education activity carried out by the REA. Volunteering to organize this event is one of the many ways that Rutherford School District employees give back to the Rutherford community. In the past, this event has been very well attended by over 400 residents of Rutherford and the surrounding communities.

The event will feature entertainment, which will include a balloonist, carnival games, and a magic show at 10am. Various activities will also be available, including arts and crafts and jewelry making. There will also be demonstrations of work completed by students in a variety of academic subjects.

The items that the food pantry always needs are:  Canned protein (tuna, chicken, sardines), Condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, salad dressing, cooking oil), Chef Boyardee, and Canned Chili or Manwich.

The Rutherford Education Association is an affiliate of the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) and represents the teachers, nurses, librarians, guidance counselors, child study team members, student assistance coordinators, custodians, bus drivers, secretaries, and support staff of the Rutherford School District. Rutherford PRIDE is an ongoing campaign created to share the education successes of the Rutherford School District with all Rutherford residents and build strong community support for and involvement in our great public schools.
